Perry County leads the charge in the state in terms of vaccination rates, with 54.3% of the population fully vaccinated. Being number one in the entire state, Perry County is one of four other Black Belt Counties that all tout the highest vaccination rates in the State of Alabama. Lowndes, Marengo, Bullock, and Hale follow behind.
Hale County touts a statistic of 59.9% of its population being full vaccinated. However this statistic is offset with cumulative deaths per 100,000 residents at 655, or 96 total deaths. That is 83.5% more deaths per 100,000 residents than Alabama.
These are numbers to laud, as Alabama officially becomes last in the nation in COVID vaccination rates. Data from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show just 49.7% of Alabama’s total population being fully vaccinated. This is the lowest rate in the United States currently. Alabama now stands as the only state with less than 50% of its population fully vaccinated.
