Dorothy Mae Lewis died February 15, 2022, aged 77 years. Born February 9, 1945, in Perry County, Dorothy is the daughter of the late Precious Blackmon and Marie Henry. At an early age, she was baptized and joined Mt. Horeb Baptist Church in various capacities throughout her life. She married Willie James Lewis, Sr., who precedes her in death, along wither her sister, Earnestine Melton, and brothers, Altha Black, Arthur Blackmon, and James Stanley.
Dorothy is survived by: children, Carol Regina of Newbern, Sheila Lewis of Selma, Willie James, Jr., of Newbern, Pauline Lewis of Tuscaloosa, and Lovell Lewis of Muscle Shoals; sisters-in-law, Georgia Martin of Kenner, LA, Verla Black of Cleveland, OH, and Irene Lewis of Newbern; grandchildren, Tashiba, Cicely, Twainta, Kiara, Keith, Erika, Aja, Jayla, John, Jasmine, and Sentoria; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jaydan, Kameron, Samaria, and Kaleah; and friends, Lena Barker-Barnfield, Gloria Royal, Rosa Valentine, and Margaret Zinnerman.
Graveside services for Dorothy Mae Lewis were on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Curry Grove Cemetery in Newbern. Minister Ethel Foster officiated.
