Seventh and eighth graders at Robert C. Hatch School in Uniontown introduced their new journalism team on Tuesday, March 22. Sponsored by teachers Ms. Ford and Mrs. Sellers, the students compiled a nearly 10-minute news broadcast covering the full range of grades and activities in the school. Among the segments were conversations with coaches for both the boys and girls basketball teams and a weather report. Teachers recounted the festivities from Read Across America, which included a processional of students and teachers around the school, complete with a marching band. Plans of some athletes after graduation were also a highlight.
Students not only conducted interviews, but also directed and edited the footage for broadcast. The journalism team is studentled and operated. The sponsorship from teachers came after the students presented their work to the school.
