Judy Lee (Fondren) Bowles, 68, of Warrenton, Missouri, went to her heavenly home on May 14, 2022.
She was born to Allen Patterson Fondren and Isabel Duncan Fondren in Moundville, AL on July 15, 1953. Judy graduated from Hale County High School, and went on to Livingston University after graduation. She was married to Charles Bowles Sr. in Tuscaloosa, AL on September 3, 1999.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck; siblings, Patsy Ford and twin sister, Joyce Evans; stepchildren Cheryl (Shawn) Summers; Julie Lee and Charles A Bowles, Jr. (Kieron) as well as grandchildren, Claire Summers, Kaitlyn Bowles, Reagan Lee, Shea Lee, Charles A. Bowles III “Charlie”, Aletiza “Allie” Bowles, Ella Summers, Chia Wei Lee, Ming Lee and Walker Bowles.
Judy was preceded in death by: Brother, Allen Eugene “Gene” Fondren, sister Annie Merle Sims, Jack Fondren, Jeanette Aultman, Sam Fondren, Frank Fondren and both parents.
Judy’s career focused on Christian ministry to children. She served many years at Child Evangelism Fellowship where she authored stories about Christian heroes such as “Bold for God: The Luis Palau Story” as well as “A Friend of God: The Story of Joni Eareckson Tada” and others. Through Bible Visuals International, she was the author of “Be The One: The Todd Beamer Story.” Judy was a member of Grace Bible Church in Warrenton.
Judy became a mother three 20-somethings after marrying Chuck in 1999, and by 2001, she was promoted to grandma, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. Judy was devoted to her family members, and loved her grandchildren.
Her grandchildren will remember her sugar cookies and homemade chicken strips. Most of all, Judy adored her husband, Chuck, whom she referred to regularly as “the best man since Adam.” In recent years, Judy battled mightily against dementia. After several hospital stays and after she moved into a memory care facility in 2021, caregivers were always eager to meet Chuck because they had already heard so much about him.
A funeral will be held in Judy’s current hometown of Warrenton, Missouri on Saturday, May 21 at Grace Bible Church with funeral arrangements made by Martin Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Tuscaloosa, AL on Saturday, May 28 at Calvary Baptist Church at 1 PM.
