William “Wimp” Chavers died August 13 at the age of 54.
He was born January 26, 1968 to proud parents Bertha (Pickens) and Willie Chavers. He graduated from Greensboro Public School, East Campus in 1998. He worked for the Hale County Board of Education and Community Service Programs of West Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Shalondria S. Gray Chavers; father, Willie Chavers; brother, Willie Chavers, Jr.; grandfather, Samuel Pickens; and grandmother, Rosie Sheperd.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Frances Gray Chavers; mother, Bertha Pickens Chavers of Indianapolis; four sisters, Lena Dedrick and Ernestine (Harry) Davis, both of Sawyerville, Dorothy Chavers of Marion, and Rosie Chavers of Indianapolis; three brothers, Clemon (Joyce) Chavers of Columbia, S.C.; Arthur Chavers and Cedric Chavers, both of Indianapolis; two brothers-in-law, Willie (Kenneth) Robinson of Moundville and Hattie Chavers of Sawyerville; Godchildren, Malaysia and Maliyha Smith; best friends, Richard Tinker, David Edward, Michael Fields, Eddie Watkins, Cedric Royal, Xavier Evans, and LaQuita Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 20 at Wilson Cemetery with the Rev. Cedrick Royal of St. Paul Baptist Church in Boligee officiating and Washington and Paige Mortuary directing.
