Charles Henry Willis, 95 of Gallion, AL went to his eternal home on December 9, 2022. He was born on March 6, 1927 in Ashley County, Arkansas to Bailey Willis and Annie Sharp Willis. As a veteran, he was a medic in the Army. After that, he worked as a machine operator for Gulf States Paper Mill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Julia Hobbs Willis. He is survived by his son, Dennis Willis (Judy); his daughter, Nanette Judd (Courtney); his sisters: Kathleen Willis, Mary Jo Humphrey, and Norma Ray; and his brothers: Kenneth Willis, Gerald Willis, and Gary Willis. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation was held on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Demopolis, AL. Funeral service was held at 2:00 pm, also at the church with Rev. Carl Williams officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Demopolis Chapel directing. A graveside service followed at the Demopolis Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Judson Holycross, Chris Luker, Eddie Pruett, Jason WIllis, Harrison Coleman, and Justin Pruett. Honorary pallbearers are: the Senior Adult Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church and Legacy Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
