Ethel Green Woods, age 84, was granted her angel wings on Thursday, January 19, 2023. She was born Ethel Jean Green, September, 10, 1938, in Marion, Alabama to the late Eddie and Rachel Green. She accepted Christ at an early age at Simpson United Methodist Church. She later joined Hamburg Church of Christ in Marion. Ethel loved sitting on her porch watching her grandchildren play, listening to music, reading her Bible, spending time with family, and making others laugh. She had a charm and loving, caring spirit that lit up any room. To know her was to love her.
Ethel is preceded in death by her son, Gregory Green; grandsons, Robert Foster and Tyrone Green; brothers, Eddie, Abron, and Floyd Green and sisters, Bessie Mae Goldsby, Sarah King, Estella Robinson, Annie Bell Nemo, and Ardella Sanders.
As a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Ethel leaves to church her memories her husband, Albert Woods; sons, Larry Green of Valley Grande; Willie (Bernice) Green of Newbern: Jimmy Moore of Marion; daughters, Lisa Osborne of Marion and Dorothy Green of Chicago; brother, Preston (Shirley) Green and sister, Lizzie Heard, both, of Marion. She also has 27 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 27 from 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. at Melvin Miller Funeral Service in Marion. A celebration of life service was held Saturday, Jan. 28 at Marion Baptist Academy with Melvin Miller Funeral Service directing.
