Robert Marion Vetzel, age 82, of Marion, Alabama passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Son of Robert and Radna Vetzel, Bob grew up in Tampa, Florida. He graduated from Auburn University, and during his time there, he met his honey, Evelyn Cannon, on a blind date. He spent his career in sales, both in moving and dairy cows. Bob was a Mason and a dedicated family man. He loved his children, and being Papa to his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He loved football, college and NFL, and was honored to have moved many coaches during his career.
Bob is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Evelyn Vetzel; children, Robert Vetzel II (Michelle) of Livingston, AL, Joseph Arlin Vetzel (Stacy) of Chattanooga, TN, and Lashawn Lockhart (Jack) of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren, Lee Vetzel (Ashley), Catlin Fleming (Andrew), Jarrod Vetzel, Vivian Vetzel, Wayne Lockhart, Jack Lockhart, Megan Lockhart and Mackenzie Lockhart; great-grandchildren, Gideon Vetzel, Elijah Vetzel, Lily Cait Fleming, and Luke Fleming; sister, Katherine Benda (Jerry); sister-in-law, Nell Richmond (Fred); several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends across the United States.
A graveside service for Robert was held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Heiberger United Methodist Cemetery, Highway 5, Marion, Alabama 36756. Rev. Bill Davis officiated. A reception followed at Heiberger United Methodist Church. The family requests any memorial donations be made to UNICEF at www.unicefusa.org in memory of Bob Vetzel.
