The Community Foundation of Uniontown recently received a grant from Black Belt Community Foundation for a community mural project that was recently completed.
Designed by Uniontown resident artist, Jason Irvin, the community participated in painting the new mural, the second mural project to come to the town in recent years. Student volunteers with the University of Alabama’s Engage Alabama, Auburn University’s Rural Studio, Robert C. Hatch softball team and others collaborated with community artists and organizations to make the mural come together. Other organizations included: Black Belt Treasures, C.H.O.I.C.E., and Tres and Helene Taylor of Selma.
Dorothy’s Kitchen of Uniontown provided food and fellowship to volunteers for the day and also lent a hand in the mural’s construction.
