Four new physicians will be providing healthcare to Perry and Wilcox counties full time, beginning July 1. Part of Cahaba Medical Center and UAB Family Medicine Residency’s “1+2” Frontier Family Medicine Residency Program, both Black Belt counties will receive more healthcare professionals in a growing effort to address lack of resources for citizens.
Dr. Josue Breaux, Dr. Joshua Murphy, Dr. Ijeoma Okeke, and Dr. Michael Wu (pictured, from left to right) are now full time Perry County residents, and will be joined by four more doctors next summer. Allowing physicians to live where they work will give them greater access to local patients and incorporate them into the communities they serve.
Citizens will have a chance to meet the new physicians and other healthcare providers at Cahaba Medical Center during their inaugural Marion Fun Day, on July 15 from 12 noon to 4 PM. Activities, door prizes, games, and food will be offered to attendees. Marion- based radio station, WJUS, will be on hand to cover the event live from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
