Alabama has welcomed its newest addition to women’s sports, the Alabama Krewe, a semi-professional football team based in West Alabama. The team has joined the ranks of the Women’s Tackle Football League and is gearing up for their first season in April 2024.
The Alabama Krewe will participate in league matches at a home stadium, which is yet to be announced, in Alabama. They are also set to travel for away games, with scheduled matches in Texas, Virginia, and even Canada.
The team’s establishment is seen as a move to challenge societal norms, providing a platform for women in sports to break through barriers and serve as role models for young girls with athletic aspirations.
With an aim to positively represent their community, the Alabama Krewe aspires to create a family-oriented atmosphere on game days, promising engaging and competitive play.
