Join Providence Baptist Church in Marion for a day of CPR certification courses on Saturday, February 17 from 9 AM to 12 noon. In conjunction with ELECTA Chapter #8 OES, there are only 24 openings available for the various courses offered throughout the day. The church is located at 206 AL Highway 14 in Marion.
Instructors Christina Scoff, Vivian McLaughlin, and Ruby Richardson will be offering CPR training in four specialized areas. Each course certification has a fee, but the only charge participants will have will be for a CPR certification card. Courses and their charges include: Heartsaver First Aid, $21.75; Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED, $21.75; Heartsaver K-12, $5.00; and Heartsaver CPR AED, $21.75.
Providence Baptist Church will also be hosting a vaccination drive in conjunction with Cahaba Community Care on Tuesday, February 20 from 9 AM to 1 PM. No appointment is needed for this event that is open to the public. Individuals aged 60 and over, as well as those with selfidentified disabilities will receive a $25 gas card for their participation.
Vaccines for influenza and COVID-19 will be administered, two vaccinations that those aged over 60 or are immunocompromised are encouraged to seek out. In addition to the Providence Baptist and Cahaba Community Care, the vaccination drive is hosted in conjunction with Disability Rights & Resources as well as the Aging & Disability Vaccination Collaborative.
