The Francis Marion Track and Field Team were recently lauded at the Northridge Invitational for their performance. The Northridge Invitational took place on February 24, and its the first meet for the Rams this season. Both teams offered an exceptional showing for Marion and Perry County in this invitational, with more to come as the season progresses.
The boys team placed 13th out of 22 teams present at the invitational. The girls team placed 6th out of 20 teams represented, with both placements being notable marks.
The top four finishers in their events include: Ke’Lashia Shelton placed 2nd in the Junior Varsity 100-meter dash and placed 3rd in the Varsity 400-meter dash; Zy’Tashia Moore won the Junior Varsity 100- meter hurdles and placed 3rd in the Varsity 300-meter hurdles; Micheal Hopkins won the Junior Varsity 110- meter hurdles and 2nd in the Junior Varsity long jump; and Tamyia Moore placed 3rd in the Junior Varsity 300-meter hurdles.
The team’s next meet will be the Paul W. Bryant Invitational in Tuscaloosa slated for Saturday, March 2.
