Richard L. Parker, affectionately known as Scooter, was born on October 23, 1957, in Hale County to the late William Parker and Rosie Lee Frank Parker. He was a cherished member of the community, who departed this life on February 10, 2024, at the DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Eugene and Henrietta Frank, sister Mary Lee Frank King, uncles Eugene, Albert, and Robert Frank and Ellis Thomas, aunts Mary White, Ruby Lee Allen, Ethel Lapsley, Katherine Phillips, and Aunt Child.
Accepting Christ at an early age, Richard was a long-standing member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He leaves behind his loving wife Marie Williams- Parker, his children Ashley, Martha, and Richard Jr., along with four stepchildren, Rebecca and Eddie Williams, and Shantina and Kelvin Thomas, 12 grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren. His brothers Jimmy Lee (Angela) Parker and William (Teresa) Parker, Eddie (Rachel) Parker, Kenneth (Joann) Parker, and his five sisters Martha Foster, Shirley (Hezekiah) Randolph, Rebecca (Lonzeil) Norwood, Roberta (Willie) Powell, Claudiette Jeffries, an aunt, Bessie Edwards, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends will hold dear his memory.
The Celebration of Life for Richard Lewis (Scooter) Parker was held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny L. Anderson as pastor and Rev. James Frank Jr. as the officiant.
