John Henry (Slim) Walker, 63, entered eternal rest at his home on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
John was born June 26, 1960 to his parents Cleveland and Josephine Walker in Perry County, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Green Liberty Baptist Church. He was a graduate of East Perry High School.
John worked in logging, trucking and farming throughout his life, and was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. His memories will be cherished by all who knew him. He was confident and determined to win over his health challenge.
John is proceeded in death by his parents Cleveland and Josephine Walker; brothers Tom, Robert, Eddie and Joseph Walker; Sisters, Velma Lee Walker and Adell Thomas.
John (Slim) leaves to cherish his precious memories wife and love of his life Lisa Ann; two sisters Josephine Lee and Johnnie Mae Walker; brother in law Cornelius Thomas. But more than anything, Slim was a devoted Papa! He will be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering love and commitment to his children: Miranda, Brayshelle, Bennie, and Kendra; his grandchildren, Byron, Javien, Jaiden, MaKayla, and Kelli; his presence illuminated the room when he entered bringing comfort to them. He was loved and adored without measure by his favorite niece Claudia Heard. He also leaves to cherish many special to a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, April 5 at Melvin Miller Funeral Service in Marion. Funeral services were Saturday, April 6 at Marion Baptist Academy. Interment followed the service at Simpson Cemetery on Green Hill in Marion.
