Rodney Lenear Smith was born on October 14, 1973, in Warren, Ohio, the eldest son of 10 children. Rodney resided in Ocala, Florida, and passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024, at 4:29 PM with his family by his side at Hospice West Alabama.
Rodney was baptized at the early age of 10 and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He graduated from Francis Marion High School in 1991. During his high school years, Rodney enjoyed athletics; especially football, playing on the varsity team in his sophomore and junior years. Rodney’s love for football did not stop at his high school years; he went on to try out as a walk-on for the Chicago Bears. After his pursuit of football, Rodney decided to serve his country by joining the Marine Corps.
Rodney leaves to cherish the memories of his life; a loving mother, Earline Reynolds; one daughter, Angelina Diane Terrell; three sons – Darien Chandler, Napoleon Norfleet, and Sahmod Howard; three grandchildren; five sisters – Roslyn Smith of Birmingham, AL, Rhonda Smith of Kokomo, IN, Rita Bates of Helena, AL, Jamie Smith of Alpharetta, GA, Kei’Anna Anderson of Anderson, IN; four brothers – Reginald Smith of New Orleans, LA, Keelyn Roberts of Hamilton, VA, Khareem Roberts of Augusta, GA, and Steven Reynolds of Fairfax, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 9:00 AM at Miles Family Cemetery, Hopkins Loop Rd., Marion, AL 36756. Pastor James Frank, Jr. officiated.
