A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m. Thursday, May 9, has claimed the life of a Uniontown man. Thomas Ralston Long IV, 76, was fatally injured when the 2014 Subaru Outback he was driving collided headon with the 2021 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Ronnie A. Tompkins, 46, of Jemison. Long was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Alabama 183 near the 11 mile marker, approximately 11 miles north of Uniontown, in Perry County.
Long was an attorney by profession, practicing out of Uniontown and in Alabama’s Fourth Judicial Circuit since 1995. Long was also a member of the Alabama Army National Guard for 36 years. Before entering the practice of law, Long operated his family’s farm near Uniontown.
A descendant of families with deep roots in the Uniontown area, Long was both well-known and wellliked throughout the region and state.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Uniontown Presbyterian Church, where he was a member. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Glen White Memorial Funeral Home in Uniontown.
