Perry County Extension Office Hosts Heirs Property Awareness Workshop
On June 19, the Perry County Extension Office, in collaboration with sponsors from Legal Service of Alabama, LRLEAN, Deep South Food Alliance(DSFA) and TUCCA, hosted an impactful Heirs Property Awareness Workshop at the Perry County Courthouse’s upstairs courtroom.
The primary goal of the workshop was to educate and discuss property issues that are significantly impacting Alabama landowners, residents, and communities. Expert presenters, Jacy Fisher and Laneitha Littleton, both specialized Heirs Property Attorneys, led discussions on “Preserving Your Legacy & Preventing Heirs Property.”
Participants who attended gained valuable knowledge aimed at ensuring future generations are not burdened by the loss of land or property due to Heirs Property issues. The workshop provided insights and strategies to improve the odds of retaining family lands for generations to come.
Those in attendance included: Katrina Easley, County Extension Coordinator, Alabama Cooperative Extension System- Perry County, Doug Fulghum, Alabama Cooperative Extension System- Greene County, Deron Lacey, LRLEAN Foundation Director Keisha Abraham, LRLEAN, Legal Liaison/TUCCA, Board of Directors, Jacy Fisher, Heirs Property Attorney and Laneitha Littleton, Attorney of Legal Services of Alabama.
