Back to school season is near for students across the state, with Perry County readying for another academic year.
Project G.R.A.C.E. Central, AL, will be holding a “Back 2 School Bash” this Saturday, August 3. From 3 PM to 6 PM, participants may gather on the Perry County Courthouse Square for an afternoon of live music, food, as well as other vendors. Live music will be provided by DJ MoneyMaka and Dante Pride Performances. Sponsors and donations are still being accepted.
Also, on Saturday, August 3, Marion Academy will be holding a Back to School Bake Sale for their upcoming school session. The private school will be selling a variety of baked goods from 6:30 AM to 12 noon on Saturday in the lot located between the Barber Shop and Valero on Washington Street. All proceeds from the sale will go towards Marion Academy.
Soon after, the fall session of Marion Academy’s Early Learning Center will be in session beginning Monday, August 5. Register infants, toddlers, and preschoolers for the fall session. Applications are available for pickup at Marion Academy or Siloam Baptist Church.
Then, on Sunday, August 4, local businesses Fresh- Cutz and Chop’d will be hosting a “Back 2 School Extravaganza” with special thanks to the City of Marion. Starting at 2 PM and continuing through 6 PM, participants can meet at 1200 Washington Street for free haircuts, school supplies, food, and games. For a final afternoon of fun before the school year starts, come and support the “Back 2 School Extravaganza”. Admission is free and there will be a Live DJ on hand to provide additional entertainment. Sponsors and donations are still encouraged to contribute to this event.
In addition to these celebrations, Della Maynor is offering free alteration services for students’ school uniforms. For the next few weeks, parents or guardians may contact Della Maynor at 205-310-9428 for their uniform alteration needs.
