Artavis Arlexus Thomas, 24, of Valley Grande, who is charged with the murder of Christian Moore, appeared in Dallas County District Court on July 24, for a pretrial detention hearing under Aniah’s Law. The court determined that the State met its burden of probable cause for the murder charge and set bond at $250,000.00. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for September 12, 2024, at 1:30 PM.
Thomas, who was arrested on July 18, 2024, faces multiple charges following the discovery of Moore’s remains in a burned vehicle. Moore, 23, was last seen on July 11, 2024. His disappearance led to an intensive search, with family and friends sharing his photo widely on social media. The same day Moore was reported missing, a burned 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was found and impounded by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. It wasn’t until later that deputies discovered charred human remains inside the vehicle.
Court records indicate that Thomas allegedly placed Moore’s body in the passenger seat of his truck and set it on fire. Blood evidence found in Thomas’ residence further implicated her in the crime. Along with the murder charge, Thomas faces charges of abuse of a corpse, first-degree criminal mischief, and tampering with physical evidence.
