On October 2nd, the Lady Rams faced off against Dallas County in their final home game of the season, which meant it was also senior night. The ladies had a rough start to the match, letting Dallas County run away with the first set. After recognizing their three seniors after the first set by presenting A’naja Tubbs, Jade Turner, and Charleeyah Black with a team signed volleyball and a banner to remember their days as a Ram athlete, the coaches rallied the team together, discussed what went wrong during the first set, and sent the team back on the court to take care of business. The ladies did not disappoint. With the help of the football team, who had all showed up to support after their own practice, and the Lady Rams’ fans who shook the gym with their cheering and excitement, the Francis volleyball squad relentlessly swept Dallas County the next three sets with ease. All Francis players were not only able to get on the court, but every player ended up contributing to at least one point towards the win. To sweeten the victory, all three seniors were on the court together to seal the deal on the last and final set as they won the match.
As soon as the handshakes were complete with the opposing team, all friends, family, and fellow students/athletes flooded the court to congratulate the Lady Rams on their big senior night victory. The ladies will cherish that moment for years to come, especially the seniors! Now they have to begin preparing for the big area tournament in a couple weeks in Billingsley where they must defeat Maplesville to move on to the regional tournament.
