The Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education is now accepting pre-registration applications for the 2025-2026 First Class Pre-K program. The program, which offers high-quality early childhood education, is open to all Alabama residents whose children will be four years old on or before September 1, 2025.
Pre-registration, which began on January 15, 2025, will remain open until March 18, 2025. Interested families must complete an online application at prek.alaceed.alabama.gov. Supporting documents, such as a copy of the child’s birth certificate and proof of Alabama residency, must be uploaded to the application portal or submitted directly to the local First Class Pre-K program.
Eligibility requirements may vary depending on zoning regulations, which determine attendance at specific pre-K programs. Upon acceptance, parents or guardians will need to provide an up-to-date immunization record.
The program emphasizes inclusivity, welcoming participants regardless of income, race, sex, national origin, or disability. Admission into the First Class Pre-K program is determined through a random selection drawing, ensuring fair opportunities for all applicants. Families will receive email notifications about acceptance status in mid-April.
The random selection drawings will occur on March 19, 2025, at various pre-K locations. For Francis Marion School, the drawing will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Pre-K classroom. At R.C. Hatch High School, the drawing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. in its respective Pre-K classroom. Presence at the drawing is not required.
For more details or assistance, parents are encouraged to contact their local First Class Pre-K program. Don’t miss this opportunity to enroll your child in a program designed to provide an excellent start to their educational journey.
