MMI band and choir will perform Friday, Feb. 14 at the Greensboro Opera House

MMI band

The Band and Choir of Marion Military Institute will perform at the Greensboro Opera House at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 14. The band which is composed of forty-two cadets will perform a variety of popular musical selections, in many of which they will be accompanied by the MMI Choir.

The band typically marches in parades, not only at home in Marion, but across the state, such as the Veterans Day Parade in Birmingham and Mardi Gras Parades in Mobile and Dothan. The band and its members also serve as “entertainment ambassadors” for the college, playing for various college events. Under the leadership of its Director, Michael Gimenez, the band has during the last four years grown from twentyfive cadets to around fortytwo cadets. Gimenez attributes this success to a hands-on, personal approach which encourages “cadets to experiment, take risks, and grow.”

Admission to the concert is free with a reception to follow.

This concert by the MMI Band will be followed at the Opera House on Friday, February 28 at 7:00 by a concert of the Shelton Singers.
