The inaugural Marion2Selma Bicycle Ride will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the murder of Jimmie Lee Jackson in Marion, an event which galvanized the Civil Rights movement and let to the Selme to Montgomery March. Activities will commence in Marion on February 19th, with tours and dinners. The bike ride will begin on February 20th. Participation in the Bike Ride will cost $25, with all proceeds going to bicycle infrastructure in Marion and Selma. This event is sponsored by the Alabama Black Belt Adventures Association, Blackbelt Benefit Group, the Conservation Fund, Main Street Marion, RC&D Association of Alabama, and the Montgomery Bicycle Club.
