Walter David Edwards

Walter David Edwards passed away April 3, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born April 28, 1940 to the late William Bradley Edwards and Ella Ray Oakes Edwards.

Walter retired after more than 20 years of devoted service as an insurance salesman with Liberty National Life Insurance, a career that reflected his outgoing nature and passion for connecting with people. He was not only known for his professionalism but also for the warmth he exuded, making him a beloved figure in the lives of those who knew him.

A deacon at Pisgah Baptist Church, Walter found great joy in his faith and cherished his church family. His commitment to serving others was evident in his role with The Gideon’s International Selma Camp, where he took pride in distributing Bibles to schools, motels, and hospitals, sharing hope and inspiration wherever he went.

Walter’s zest for life was palpable. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and the love he had for his grandchildren and great-grandson was boundless. He was a fun-loving guy who brought joy to gatherings with his vibrant personality. Whether it was playing dominoes, engaging in long conversations, or casting a line for a day of fishing, Walter approached every activity with enthusiasm. He had a knack for cooking, but his love for conversation often meant the steaks might be slightly charred, a memory that will bring a smile to those who shared meals with him.

Walter’s legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and an unwavering love for family and community. He will be remembered for his loving spirit and the countless ways in which he touched the lives of those around him. His life was a testament to the importance of connection, faith, and joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
