Frank Crawford Marks died Sept. 19 at the age of 88. He was born Feb. 22, 1934 to the late Mamie B. Manning (John T. Manning) and the late Roosevelt White of Sawyerville.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Cora B. Crawford; four children, Lonzie Crawford, Norman Watkins, Joe. E. Anderson, and Robert E. Crawford; one like his own son, Donald Anderson; a grandson; a great-great grandson; a brother, John L. Manning; and a sister, Sarah Lawson.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Ann Marks of Calera; ten children, Chester Ellis of Butler, Johnny L. Terrell of Monrena Valley, Calif., Katie M. Terrell of Tuscaloosa, Ervin (Gloria) Crawford, Arthur (Angie) Crawford of Sawyerville, Elbert Crawford of Bessemer, John K. Crawford of Los Angeles, Calif., Kendrell (Erica) Pasture of Tuscaloosa, Franklin (Frednesha) Marks of Oakland, Calif., two stepsons, Percy Nelms and Jeffery Nelms of Calera; a brother Steve (Charlene) Manning of Atlanta; 68 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; 39 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Powell, Maxine Johnson, and Charlene Manning, all of Bessemer; three sisters-in-law, Rebecca Terrell of Cleveland, Ida Mae Bagby of Tuscaloosa, and Bertha Galtin of Alabaster; five brothers-in-law, Willie L. Waller, Joe Davis of Tuscaloosa, Leon Davis of Greensboro, Tyrone Davis of Atlanta and Nathan Davis of North Carolina; a son like his own, Ronald Anderson; a great aunt, Arselee Crawford of Sawyerville; a special daughter-in-law, Deana Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 1 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Sawyerville with the Rev. Frank Lyles officiating and Washington and Paige Mortuary directing.
