Erma Warren King

Erma Warren King was born in Greensboro, Alabama, on October 1, 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel “Tom” Warren and Laura Warren; her husband, Ernest Lee King; her brother, Larry Warren; her twin sister, Ora (Arthur) Cottrell; and her niece, Angela Harris.

Erma worked in the food service industry for over 40 years until her retirement in 2014 from the Hale County Board of Education. On March 5, 1972, she married the love of her life, Ernest Lee King. She loved her family dearly and took great pride and joy in her grandson and great-grandchildren.

Erma accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of St. Peter Baptist Church in Greensboro, Alabama, until she relocated to Georgia in 2021. After her move, she joined Prospect African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Monroe, Georgia, where she was affectionately called “Boo” by her church family.

On December 30, 2024, the angels called Erma from her earthly home to rest in heaven.

Erma leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Carolyn (Kelly) Thomas; her grandson, Kelly (Erica) Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Karlie and Kannon Thomas. She is also survived by her four sisters, Zeodeater Harris, Carolyn (Frank) Lett, Gerrie (John) Grice, and Lynn (Richard) Moseley; her two brothers, Nathaniel (Mary) Warren and Randy (Shaquita) Warren; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenleaf Missionary Baptist Church, located at 13584 Alabama Highway 25, Greensboro, Alabama. Reverend C.H. Agnew served as pastor, and Reverend Robert Williams officiated.
