Faye Plummer Stewart

Faye Plummer Stewart, born August 6, 1935, died January 25, 2025. Faye was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, William Henry Stewart, Jr.; a granddaughter, Tasha Danielle Morrow; her parents, James Clifton Plummer and Ella Dee Rinehart Plummer; her sister, JoAnn Plummer Cloud; and infant brother, James Clifton Plummer, Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Will H. (Frances) Stewart of Northport, AL and Mike Stewart of Tuscaloosa, AL; a daughter, Beth (Philip) Earnest of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren: Rebecca (Jon Derek) Johnson, Elizabeth (Jarrod) Norman, Parker Stewart, William Earnest and Matthew Earnest, and two greatgrandchildren.

Faye grew up on a Perry County dairy farm. She attended Perry County, AL schools where she was a majorette in high school, but more importantly, she met her high school sweetheart and future husband. After graduating from high school, she attended Judson College. She and Billy married in Marion, AL on May 11, 1957. They moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where he was stationed in the Army and where they began their family. Their next stop was Mobile, Alabama, where Billy was a research chemist for Cortauld Industries.

They returned to Marion in 1961, where they worked together for over fifty years serving the citizens of Marion, Perry County and beyond, at Marion Insurance Agency. During this time, Faye was a loyal member of Marion Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees. She was a longtime volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, a member of the Three Arts Club, the Garden Gate Club, and the Perry County Antiquarian Society.

She loved to travel. She and Billy embraced opportunities for international travel when they were able, but she also loved trips with her girlfriends, whether shopping or weekend beach trips. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother, and loyal friend who unselfishly gave of her time, talents, and resources to so many.

The disease of dementia took its toll during her final years, but our Lord gave her a fighting spirit to remain as active and independent as she was able. Special thanks to dear friends who cared for her so faithfully when she needed them, and the caregivers and staff at Bibb Medical Center Nursing Home, Perry County Nursing Home and Amedisys Hospice. We rejoice in knowing that she is restored and with our Savior, her beloved Billy, and her loved ones who have gone before her. We look forward to seeing her again.

There will be a family graveside service to celebrate her life.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Marion Methodist Church, P. O. Box 85, Marion, AL 36756; the Marion Cemetery Association, Inc., c/o John Anderson, 1806 Oakcrest Drive, Marion, AL 36756, or the charity of your choice.
